The all-new 300 Series Toyota LandCruiser will be just as capable as the 200 Series it replaces in 2021 – whether it’s powered by V6 petrol, diesel or even hybrid powertrains, says Toyota.

Currently in development and subject to significant input from Australia – its largest market after the Middle East — the next generation of Toyota’s flagship SUV appears certain to ditch the only engine available in the current model: the 200kW/650Nm 4.5-litre twin-turbo diesel V8.

We love our beaches in Perth, and as the weather starts to warm up the beach’s lure is oh-so-tempting. Sometimes though you can’t get down early enough to beat the pesky sea breeze. Or perhaps you’re just not feeling the sand between your toes today.

Fortunately there are plenty of inland swimming holes, lakes and rivers just begging for exploration. As we’re still heading out of winter, your chances for an in-land dip are still good, although best hurry before things get too dry out there.

Everything You Need to Know About Water Crossings

It was 2010, and I’d just turned off the A699 somewhere near Roxburgh Castle. My destination was Floors Castle and a meet and greet with the Duke of Roxburgh. What, ho. With the Tweed River ahead of me, and a Land Rover Experience instructor waving madly at me, I did as I was bid, and dipped the snout of the Land Rover Discovery 4 into the river.

Keeping the Disco’s nose pointed at the instructor standing downstream on the opposite bank, I made it across the bonnet-high river just in time for tea and scones. And this was not at all the way you should cross a river.
